History

History

History

Sponsor a Swimmer began with a simple mission: to prevent drowning tragedies before they happen. What started as one instructor teaching a few local kids has grown into a movement—uniting families, businesses, and communities to make swim lessons accessible to everyone, regardless of income or circumstance.

Problem

History

History

Every year, thousands of children lose their lives to preventable drowning. It remains one of the leading causes of death for kids under 14—and most victims never had a single formal swim lesson. Too often, families face financial barriers, long waitlists, or a lack of trained instructors in their area.

Our Solution

Our Solution

Our Solution

Through Sponsor a Swimmer, every donation—no matter the size—goes directly toward life-saving swim lessons, safety training, and community outreach. Just $60 sponsors one child for one month of lessons, giving them confidence, skill, and a safer future. Together, we can turn statistics into stories of survival.

The Truth

Our Solution

Our Solution

Every town sets aside funding for recreation and youth programming — but too often, that money never reaches the kids it’s meant for. Administrative costs, staffing, and overhead eat up entire budgets before real, hands-on programs ever take shape. The result? Empty pools, overworked staff, and communities left without the life-saving education they deserve.

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death in children, yet swim lessons are still treated like a privilege instead of a necessity. Families are ready, instructors are ready — but funding gets lost in the system.

Create Lasting Change

The gift of water safety lasts a lifetime. By donating, you’re not just giving a lesson—you’re creating a ripple effect of protection, awareness, and hope.

My Story: The Cost of Doing the Right Thing

Speaking up for safety has cost me more than I could have imagined. Facilities don’t like being told when they’re putting lives at risk—but I couldn’t stay silent. Doing the right thing has been life-changing, and while I fight the system, I need your help.

Why It Matters

Every child deserves the chance to be safe in and around the water. Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under 4, yet too many facilities cut corners when it comes to training and prevention. By standing with me, you’re standing for safer pools, stronger lifeguards, and a future where preventable tragedies don’t happen.

How You Can Help

Support drowning prevention by sponsoring a swimmer for $60/month. Your gift provides swim lessons to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access, giving them lifesaving skills and a fighting chance in the water. Together, we can make sure no one has to pay the price for doing the right thing alone.

With every donation, you’ll receive ...

A personal thank-you message from the individual who benefited — whether it’s a swimmer, a CPR student, or someone receiving a lifesaving kit.

Drowning prevention shouldn’t begin with loss — but too often, it’s only valued when it’s too late. That must change.
